For the best tan results exfoliate & shave 2 to 24 hours prior to your scheduled spray tan.
You can exfoliate gloves or a washcloth... I recommend avoiding dove products, soap bars, and products that are too oily which can all create a barrier.
Exfoliating 1 to 2 days in a row will ensure the longest lasting tan and also give you really nice even results. No need to scrub hard, the more gentle the better for your skin.
Please avoid using deodorant before your tan. Or just wear very little to prevent a harsh unwanted barrier. You'll be able to apply it right after if needing.
Again avoid bar soaps, lotion, and perfumes prior to your scheduled spray tan session. You'll be able to apply after your 1st shower.
You can wear makeup during your session, but you won't be able to wash it off until at least 6-8 hours or the next day if it's a later appointment. Avoid water and sweating 100% or anything else that can affect the tan results until your 1st shower.
Optional Prep tips My Clients & I Swear By...
Exfoliation method tip:
I dry brush for about 5-7 minutes every day before I hop into the shower. Dry brushing will help improve your skin from breakouts and help protect your body from toxins. Another benefit is it improves your circulation in your lymphatic system! You will notice a huge difference in your skin if you make dry brushing a part of your daily routine! It will tighten and firm your skin, reducing cellulite and improve the softness of your skin! What can be better than that?
Our solutions are formulated to give you the most flawless tan imaginable no matter how well you prepared, but still, the preparation is very important if you want your tan to last past 5 to 7 days. My clients report their tans lasting two solid weeks following my tips.
During your tan ladies can go topless, nude, or choose to wear a bikini, bra and/or panties. It's your choice and completely to your comfort level.
Men must wear underwear during the spray tan session, no exceptions.
After your tan plan on wearing dark loose clothes to prevent the clothes from rubbing off the tan. You'll be given enough time to dry though before getting dressed again.
Avoid getting wet, washing dishes, showering, swimming or perspiring for at least 6-8 hours.
Use a PH balanced body wash that will provide you extra moisturizing benefits. Dove isn't recommended, but Aveeno moisturizing body wash, Oil of Olay moisturizing body wash, soft soap body wash, caress or any other gentle body wash without beads or scrubs seems to work wonders for my clients and me...
Avoid long hot showers and scrubbing with your loofah/poof at least until after your tan starts to fade off. Once you see your tan fading off in noticeable areas, then you will need to exfoliate to ensure proper fading. Depending on how dark you went you might notice a stronger fade. In other words the darker you go the more noticeable it will be.
Most importantly you can help prolong your tan by simply moisturizing right after each shower and once before bedtime. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize for the very BEST results! Remember the more natural your skin care products are the better... I recommend to all my clients to use Vaseline Cocoa Butter every day with or without a spray tan. Trust me you don't have to spend to much on products as the ones I recommend also give great results.
Your spray tan is applied manually by myself a trained professional within 10-15 minutes including drying time. The products I use tend to dry instantly, it doesn't leave you as sticky as other products and smells like cucumber melon which masks the DHA order very well...
I only use Eco-Cert Organic Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is the active ingredient in all self-tanners and approved by the FDA for use on the body in 1977.
Please note that using SPF lotion with antioxidants will protect your skin from the suns harmful UV rays & also counts as your daily moisturizing requirements.
